THE CAIRN TERRIER & THE HAVANESE
The CAIRN TERRIER is a sturdy little dog with a "big heart". They are confident, outgoing, and slightly independent, making them a good choice for most busy families. A typical adult weighs about 15 to 18 pounds.
They have a double coat, with the outer hair being course and resistant to dirt. Shedding is minimal with weekly brushing/combing, and to maintain the typical outline, trimming or hand-stripping two to four times a year. They are well-tolerated by those with allergies.
Exercise requirements are easily met with a daily walk or romp in the yard, but they have the stamina to keep up with even the most active lifestyle. The Cairn is truly a "big dog, in a small package".
The HAVANESE is a true "lap dog". This native breed of Cuba was developed to be a beautiful, comical companion. Known for their happy, gentle nature, they are affectionate and devoted to their families; many have a special affinity for children.
A member of the "Toy Group", they are a small but sturdy little dog, neither fragile or timid.
The abundant silky coat comes in a rainbow of colours and is non-shedding/hypo-allergenic. If kept in a full long coat, they require regular brushing two or three times per week. Many pet owners prefer to have them in a "puppy clip" which can be maintained with weekly brushing.
A typical adult weighs 10 to 13 pounds. Exercise requirements are easily met with a daily walk and romp in the yard or even indoor play, although many excel at competitive sports such as agility.
